AN ESTEEMED COMMUNITY

The Interfaith Primary School of North America will implement active community engagement through the IPSNA Esteemed Community Card.  Every student will receive their IPSNA Esteemed Community Card the first week of School.  This will allow them to check their progress throughout the trimester.  It will contain the following categories: Classroom Accountability, Community Engagement, and Community Service.  Completion of these tasks will allow students to earn Esteemed Community Member award. Community/Personal Behavior will account for 10% of each student's grade.

Community Service

IPSNA Students will be required to participate in community service.  There will be a community service fair at the beginning of the year and again at the end of the year.  They will have their card stamped at the end of every month. This card will be turned in at the end of every trimester.  The following hours will be required per grade:

4th – 1 hour per month – 8 hours per school year

5th – 2 hours per month – 16 hours per school year

6th – 4 hours per month – 32 hours per school year

7th – 6 hours per month – 48 hours per school year

8th – 10 hours per month – 80 hours per school year

Community Engagement

IPSNA Caregivers will be required to be active participants in their students's educational pursuit.  There will be endlessly opportunities to engage with faculty and with your child's advisor to ensure you are assisting your student in meeting their Community Behavior requirement.   The main engagement touch point will be attendance of the Parent Teacher Conferences.  PTC's are required to be attended by two adults of the children’s home/community member for the first trimester and one adult/community member for the 2nd and 3rd.  Participation in the parent teacher conference will serve as a 1/3 of the Students Community/Personal Behavior grade.  The Conference will begin at 8:15 and conclude after lunch and a social activity at 1:30pm.  From 1:30 – 5pm, parents may elect to sign up for one on one sessions with any teacher or IPSNA Staff member that they choose.  Day of appointments will be available although advance appointment will be encouraged.  Students will join their parents in morning meeting and will then attend an in-house conference/lecture or field study.  Students will join parents after 1:30pm.  Student’s may be dismissed early at this time.

Classroom Accountability

IPSNA Students will learn that being accountable for their actions will be a cornerstone to developing a strong sense of discipline which is a major key to success. they will also be encouraged to seek knowledge.  In addition to participating in Q&A during every class, your child will participate each week in Perfect 10.  This system requires students to write down ten questions per week on an index style card.  These cards along with their class notes will be checked every week by their advisor.  Students are encouraged to ask anything they desire.  Each student must maintain 5 points for the entire week for their class to be entered to win the Esteemed Community Award at the end of the month.  Your child will receive points for "impressing" their teacher with great thought and for leadership behavior.  Students may also lose points for improper behavior in class.
